DUSTIN MONTIE VS MITCH BARRETT

It's not exactly what you would think, Mitch Barrett and Dustin Montie arent actually dualling it out sort of speak. These two guys have both spent certain amounts of time on each side of our great country we call Canada, and they just recently did an article for Mike Scotts column on Push.ca. SAN DIEGO 09

As you may remember in Febuary, team riders Dustin Montie, Lee Saunders and Ryan Bonnell headed down to San Diego for most of the month for good times, filming and sunshine. Well Lee just happened to take his video camera aswell and captured some extra's from the trip. Apparently he can do a bit of editing himself aswell, so here ya go San Diego extras.

S&J Sales Welcomes Lee Saunders to the Team!

S&J Sales proudly welcomes Lee Saunders to the team roster representing World Industries skateboards and Thunder Trucks. Lee is another Vancouver transplant originally from Detroit Michigan, later moving to Windsor Ontario. Since Lee has made the move to Vancouver he has been working his way into the Canadian skateboard scene with a great positive attitude and motivation that makes you want to be around him. We have watched him progress and gain new sponsors such as Osiris Shoes and Underworld Skate Shop and definitely feel that he is a worthy addition to our team. We cannot wait to see what Lee brings to the table in the near future. Welcome to the team Lee!

GREG BREWER UPDATE...

Greg Brewer has been spending some time back in his homeland in the maritimes of New Brunswick away from Vancouver for a bit now. Since no ones heard or seen the man in quite sometime, he decided to send us a couple photos and a blog update. We all hope to see you soon Greg!

For the last few months since my great escape from Vancouvers life of skating as much as possible, drinking on the beach, and just plain NOT freezing my ass off. I've been trying my hardest to get up to no good on the East coast. Fredericton New Brunswick is the location. It's a great place to visit but it's packed with 8 foot tall snow banks and every road coverd in black ice. Getting to the liquor store and back safely gives you something to celebrate. You could emagine the celebration after driving in a white out for 3 hours both ways just to skate indoors while it's -40 degrees outside. No shortage of places to play pond hockey though! For now the snow has melted and summer is digging it's claws into our frost bitten ground. I've been out canoeing and camping already, traveld to a few surrounding cities on skate trips with the homies, drivin dirt bikes for the first time. And after a hard fought battle. Finaly learnt late shuv's from an East Coast legond himself, Matt Craig. Thats my update. Time to skate!

We found the sum up of Dustin Montie from his footage throughout the seasons of Underworlds Underattack show. In the final episode they edited everyones combined footage into little parts to finish the series off, we had shown you Ryan Bonnells a while back and yesterday Dustin Monties had been but online, so here it is......enjoy!

JUST ANNOUNCED.....

A few of our boys have been quietly working hard on an upcoming project over the past year and with a few short months left until the deadline it has been announced! City of New Lights is going to be premiered in November 2009. Be on the lookout for parts from S&J riders, Chad Dickson, Dustin Montie, Lee Saunders and Ryan Bonnell with such others as Micky Papa and Spencer Hamilton. Bobby Paul

This past Saturday one of the newer shops in the BC lower mainland, Bobby Paul hosted a grand opening, which included skating, bbq, drinks, music by Matt the Alien and the monster bus and good people hanging out. S&J riders Dustin Montie, Chad Dickson and birthday boy Lee Saunders headed out there for the good times. The even lasted from 12 till 4 and a good time was had by all. Contest in Port Coquitlam this weekend!

If you are in the Poco area this sunday around noon, head down to the railside skate park for the "Gnar Side of the Tracks" contest starting at noon. There are prizes to be won for beginner, intermediate and advanced/sponsored catagories. So make sure you come down and check it out!

Medicine hat!

Last June you may remember a blog entry regarding a contest in Medicine hat Alberta that S&J riders, Dustin Montie and Chad Dickson drove out to with the likes of John Hanlon and Jarvis Nigelsky in the vehicle. Well there is now a highlights video up with a great photo slideshow to go along with the adventure. Thanx to the Cityofnewlights blog, we came across this one. Enjoy!

BAM SIGNING IN WHISTLER THIS SATURDAY!

If you are in the Whistler area this Saturday, than head of to the Billabong store between 2-3pm to meet your favorite jack ass star and element skateboards pro Bam Margera. He will be signing autographs in the store for the hour.

A couple weekends ago boulevard skateshop held a contest in the arena that we had sponsored with DGK, Anti-hero, and Spitfire. They have sent us over a 5 minute highlight video of the event. For all who didnt make it, looks like you definately missed out on a goodtime!

COLOR MAGAZINES SKATE AND DEPLOY

Well, the contest was a success and a tonne of fun to boot! The day started off with everyone meeting up at the vancouver skate plaza and await our bus ride to whistler. The thing about the bus ride is it was the coors light party bus that took us there and back, so needless to say everyone was crackin beer by 10am for the 2 hour trip up. Antics on the bus sure got interesting as the early morning drinking caught up quick with everyone. That sure didnt stop anyone from skating their asses off for the event though. The event was in the underground parking lot of the telus conference center. There was a quarter pipe, a bank wall, jump ramps, manny pads, ledges and even an old volvo to skate which later got rolled and destroyed with everyone jumping in to get a piece of the action. Unfortunately chad had recently rolled his ankle real bad, and Lee rolled his ankle during the practice portion of the contest, so niether of the 2 could skate the event in the end. Dustin managed to squeeze into the semi finals, but didnt make the finals in the end. But all in all the day was definately a success and a great time had by all!!

Kevin Lowry has been traveling the world over the past couple years. This kid takes every single opportunity that comes his way to go somewhere new to skate!...and yet again since hes been in Barcelona for roughly 3 months traveling around, he is still pleasing the Canadian magazines constantly. Here yet again in a Brian Caissie Barcelona article, Kevin comes through with a heft looking bank to lipslide pop out. This weekend started off nicely with the arrival of the newest transworld magazine. To no ones surprise, Chad Dickson has a very intense checkout in the back of the mag! As we all know, Chad was hit by a truck not too long ago, but that isnt stopping him, he was been healing up quite well over the past months and has been spotted rolling around on his board again! Now go to 7 11 and pick up the newest issue of this mag. In Canadian Magazine news, the newest issues of Color magazine and SBC have made it to the shelves, and there is a stack of S&J riders in between the two of them. The sun is coming out, the mags are releasing, go pick everything up, get hyped and get out skating!
